present the personal project of Daria Neretina “The Nature of Things”. Exhibition
held as part of the MMOMA Young Art Support Program.
Exploring the nature of the origin of plant life, Daria Neretina conducts own laboratory work in which everything is consistently recreated botanical stages - from seed to mature fruit. For the author, a similar process turns out to be an accurate and capacious metaphor of creativity itself: from idea to an embodiment in which the artist is compared with the alchemist in the laboratory.
In pursuit capture the course of natural history, mankind has long resorted to all sorts of it reproductions: from numerous encyclopedias, graphic albums, and detailed reference books. The most widespread among them was the genre "botanical illustration" - a thoroughly accurate image of plants, to which Daria Neretina refers, even though modern technology allows you to examine in detail the smallest living organism.
Project at MMOMA It is a total installation and combines various techniques: sculptural objects from porcelain, the main medium with which the author works, graphics and readymades created between 2015 and 2019. Some objects are made of natural materials, such as soil, herbarium, paper and wood.

About the artist:
Daria Neretina (* 1988) - a graduate of the Department of Art Ceramics MGHPA im. Stroganov, Department of Art Ceramics (2012), Institute of Contemporary Art Problems of the Institute of Contemporary Art (2014) and the School of Contemporary Art “Free Workshops” (2016). Resident of the first season of the Open Studios Project Winzavod Foundation (2017-2018). Participant of numerous group and personal exhibitions at the capital's exhibition venues, including the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Jewish Museum and the Center for Tolerance, the Stock Conservatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, TTI Factory and others. Actively collaborates with Russian galleries. Works are in private collections in Russia and abroad. Lives and works in Moscow.
About the Free Workshops School of Contemporary Art:
School of Modern art "Free workshops" - an educational platform of the Moscow Museum contemporary art for young artists and curators. School was founded in 1992, a group of artists and art historians, including Alexander Ponomarev, Vladimir Kupriyanov, Vladimir Nasedkin, MSU professors Vera Dazhina and Valery Turchin. At the School, students have the opportunity to study with the star cast teachers, successful cultural figures, famous philosophers and theorists contemporary art. During the training, young artists and curators immersed in the art world, participating in master classes, group exhibitions, festivals. As part of the Museum, Free Workshops offer students a unique opportunity to study theoretical and practical aspects contemporary art, being at its epicenter. At all stages of formation Museum and School provide him with significant support: participation in group exhibition projects (annual exhibitions of young art "Workshop", group projects of young curators), the possibility of organizing the first solo exhibition (MMOMA Young Art Support Program), purchase of works in the MMOMA collection.
